Now that summer is drawing to a close, most of us are checking out the damage done to our hair this summer via exposure to wind, water, salt and sun. While some of that damage can be fixed over time, you might be noticing that your hair isn’t as thick or might be shedding more than you expected. Hair loss or thinning is typical as we age but there is also a genetic component too. The question is what to do about it. There are a variety of treatments out there but the question is about efficacy, cost and whether it requires professional help from an MD, a stylist or whether you can do it at home. While there are a variety of treatments out there, there is one that seems to be gaining a lot of ground because it tackles the basis for the hair thinning and loss from a variety of reasons. Whether it’s the way you treat your hair, health issues, genetics kicking into gear or poor nutrition, the thinning and loss of hair can be scare the living daylights out of you. Product promises about fast regrowth is not realistic or truthful either. Average hair growth is about .5 inches per month. Expecting something more isn’t realistic.
There are about 4 steps you need to take:
1) Do not ignore your thinning hair. Deal with it promptly because if you wait till the hair is completely gone, the less likely you are able to remedy the situation. Seeing an MD or knowledgeable hair stylist is always an option .
However often doctors will recommend drugs to take that are costly and might cause side effects. (Do your research/ Instead search for an over-the-counter treatments. The variety of treatments out there is staggering and often bewildering for you regardless of your sex or age.
2)While it’s important to make sure you have good nutrition, if you are relying on pills of any sort to stop this situation, the time frame for you to see results will be longer than you think! It typically takes several months (6-7) before you see any changes. Thus a topical treatment would be a good option simply because you will be actively doing something that you can see.
3) Topical treatments to the scalp are a worthwhile option- however the biggest issue are the ingredients (drugs). While Rogaine and other RX products are available over-the-counter, the question on oral medication is the side effect profile. For topical products you can use a combination of topical products but if there are topical products have drugs involved, you have to apply them at times when it won’t interfere with other topicals and because the scalp is like skin, the topical drugs are systemically absorbed into the body. Even with topical products, it’s going to take a while to see hair loss slow and ultimately stop and start seeing growth return.

The shampoo and conditioner are just like usual shampoo and conditioner but have extra ingredients to encourage the hair to be soft and keep the hair from drying out.
The deep conditioning masque rocks! It really helps moisturize and nourish your hair. If you don’t have hair loss but damaged hair, this would be one product that I think would be a good carry-over to your routine to be used 2-3 times per week.
The serum is very much an oil-like substance and you need to only put it on in spots where you are losing or have thinning hair. Do not over-apply it and make sure that you leave it on overnight or a while before you wash it out. Also it has an herbal scent. Some might not like that. Please use a bit less if that’s the case but most of these type of products have some scent to them. I find this one pleasant because it is HERBAL and tends to go with a more natural approach.
The exfoliating shampoo is a bit tricky with the applicator but a little goes a L O N G way and you should be aware of that. This product tingles when applied but it feels good and removes any dead skin or oily build up that blocks hair follicles.
The dry shampoo will help soak up any excess hair oil (the serum soaks into the scalp and does a lot to penetrate the hair). A “less is more” approach is a wise tip. If you overdo the oil, you are wasting money and making your scalp & hair oilier.
What did I think of these products? I noticed that my hair was fuller. My hair was in better condition and I loved the texture of the shampoo and conditioner– note that less is more when it comes to all the products. I think the products work quite well.
CAVEAT: Do not try this product if you have gone bald in various areas. This line is for use with thinning hair and areas that are starting to lose hair and isn’t entirely bald yet. If you have bald spots and other sections still have hair, USE it on the parts with hair and see hair look better, thicker and grow more. You might be able to get a longer growth to cover the bald spot but no promises.
Because I am a woman, this is definitely a product that both men and women can use and make sure you do use it sparingly. It’s worth the time. While the doctor says you could see improvement in thickness in about 90 days, I would start looking for growth and filling in on the spots in 6 months or a bit longer. This is not a quick fix but it is a healthy fix without side effect.
