The latest in exfoliating tools doesn’t have a 3 digit price tag. It doesn’t have brushes or fancy colors. It doesn’t require charging overnight before you use it. What it does is work right out of the box and removes grime, dirt and makeup right after you wash it off. This tool is Exfolimate and it’s very affordable at about $30!.
Because I expressed an interest in this product, the Exfolimate people sent me 2– one small and one larger Exfolimate for my review. While they sent me the product, this is an unbiased review because I never promise anyone a positive review. I am very picky on what I use on myself. It is strictly a case of “your mileage may vary” and what I don’t like, you might love. What I love you might really dislike. I learn from your experiences just as I learn from my own. When I make a mistake, I learn infinitely more about being wary of new (or new to me) products! My adventures in hair color and skincare are pretty well-documented online.
This plastic and stainless blade is very useful to exfoliate all of your skin– on face and body. Don’t shortchange this device. Its’ simplicity is visible and it’s effectiveness should not be discounted by the simplicity of design. It’s small, compact and thus travels easily. It fits in the palm of your hand.
What’s really cool is how effective it is! You won’t believe the amount of gunk it removes from your skin.

I would suggest using this carefully on your face after you have washed it clean (*or used an electronic brush to remove makeup), Keep face really damp — just not dripping wet. Apply the steel edge to your face gently at a 90 degree angle. The angle will change based on facial planes. Do not push.. slowly pull it across your face. You don’t have to push it into your face– just scrape lightly over the surface of the skin. See what you get on the edge of the blade. If you find it’s nothing, you might want to apply a touch more pressure. Less is more! I used this several days in a row – twice a day and found that my cleanser’s weren’t removing the makeup well. (hah!) I started using this and eventually the skin got really clean and the skin started to glow. I like the device. It’s not particularly high-tech but when one generally pays a chunk of change for high-tech devices. The results from the high-tech device should exceed significantly beyond a simpler device. In the case of Exfolimate, there’s not much that’s better unless you head into a plastic or cosmetic surgeon for a medical type facial where you would get a dermaplaning session done.
What makes this product different is the innovative micro-groove technology etched into the smooth metal edge. The micro-grooves gently lift and remove lingering skin cells and grime to cleanse your skin and reveal an illuminated complexion.
Tips:
Don’t scrape the steel over irritated areas. Those areas need to heal first before you exfoliate (just like any other exfoliation product would require)
Don’t push the blade over your skin harshly. It’s not supposed to remove all skin– just dead skin!
Be gentle with the device!
This item is not for children. It is not a toy.
Don’t leave it sitting in water. Please rinse it and dry it off.
Use this on your legs and body to reveal clearer skin. A bit of exfoliation is a great thing for your entire body– but be gentle! It’s particularly great as skin prep for self-tanning!
My Results
I liked the Exfolimate. I found that not only did it get more makeup reside off my face but it also cleared some dead skin off as well. My skin texture was smoother and softer after I used an Exfolimate. I do believe that less is more in some cases and given that this product is so darn affordable and easy to use, it’s well worth the investment.
