8th Annual 12 Drinks of Christmas, Day 2! Christmas Eve Needs Alie Ward & Georgia Hardstark #recipes

The thought of the holidays brings to mind the 2 hardest days of the year: Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. Christmas Eve because as a kid the evening seemed to last forever. As an adult and parent, there was so much to do on Christmas Eve including set out stuff for Santa Claus that there were nights we didn’t get to bed until 2 AM after helping Santa set up trikes, bikes, playhouses and more. Not to mention the requisite kid coming in our bedroom in the early AM screaming “Santa is here, Santa is here”. (Joyous yes, but I need coffee and a shower first to even face the frantic ripping open of gifts!)
New Years Eve because it never quite seemed to work out right courtesy of kids or adults in various ways. (Wait till you see the New Years Eve post)

So for this day, and tomorrow’s need for lots of coffee, here are some great cocktails wrapped around COFFEE!!

Café Cinnabourbon

INGREDIENTS:
· 1 oz. bourbon whiskey ( Try Jack Daniels Honey or Jack Daniels Apple Cider to give this a twist)

· 1/2 oz. cinnamon liqueur

· 1 NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto Skinny Latte Macchiato

DIRECTIONS:
1. Add the first two ingredients to a mug and stir lightly. Brew one NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto Skinny Latte Macchiato over the mixture. Stir lightly, dust with cinnamon and toast to coziness in liquid form.

Chilly Bourbon Espresso Eggnog

INGREDIENTS:
· 1/2 cup spiked eggnog (recipe below)

· 1 pod NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto Cappuccino, cooled

To make the eggnog:
· 4 egg whites

· 4 egg yolks

· 1/3 cup sugar, plus 1 tablespoon

· 1 pint milk

· 1 cup heavy cream

· 3 oz. bourbon

· 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

**Don’t want to make eggnog from scratch? Head to your local market and buy the best eggnog you can afford. Why that? Because the best ones often cost $7-10 a bottle or container! The one here in the greater LA area is Broguiere’s Farm Fresh Dairy. They make a KILLER eggnog that is worth every penny. No need to add whipped cream or anything else except maybe alcohol.

DIRECTIONS:
1. With a hand blender, beat egg whites until soft peaks are formed. Gradually add the 1 tablespoon of sugar and beat until stiff peaks form. Set aside.

2. In a blender, mix the egg yolks on med-high speed while slowly adding the ⅓ cup sugar. Next, slowly pour in the milk, cream, bourbon and nutmeg and mix until well blended.

3. With the blender running on low-med speed, gradually add spoonfuls of the egg whites until all is incorporated. Let chill for an hour in the fridge.

4. To Finish the Drink – Pull one pod of NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto Cappuccino espresso and let cool. Add 1/2 cup homemade eggnog, dust with nutmeg and serve!

Almond Rum Caramelatte

No recipe in hard copy here but I do have the video!! This totally pops the cork on Christmas 2014!

Cinnamon Bun-derful

INGREDIENTS:
8 oz. NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto coffee, brewed
1 oz. Cinnamon Syrup (homemade or store-bought)
2-3 Tbsp. Coffee-mate French Vanilla
2 oz. Cinnamon Schnapps

DIRECTIONS:
1. Rim a coffee mug or heat-proof glass with vanilla frosting.

2. Add hot coffee and remaining ingredients; stir. Serve.
