Of course, it’s a perfect timing for this feature. It doesn’t hurt that I am mostly blonde now either!
So read on to catch the update on this post from 1 year ago. Let’s get our blonde engines going!
Taylor Swift befriends the Bleach and kicks off Summer with her jaw-dropping new chopped off, platinum locks!
Taylor Swift does platinum!
Another platinum bombshell is JLaw… also known as Jennifer Lawrence.
And, not to be outdone, Her Blondeness, Khloe Kardashian, reigns supreme with her show-stopping sunkissed highlights!
And because I can’t decide which photo to run, I choose both:
Great trends always return! Hollywood starlets are cray-cray for all things Blonde! Here is a re-post of my “how to” blog from last Summer! Going for the gold standard in hair coloring: California Bombshell Blonde!
“My well-traveled and well-tested secrets to getting the ultimate hair color ::: California-Bombshell-Blonde!!!”
by LA-STORY.com contributing editor, DENNIS STOKELY
So much of the fun in my wanderlust career as a hairstylist has been the incredible stops I have made along the way. From assisting at the Frederic’ Fekkai Salon in New York City, working as a style consult for NFL cheerleaders in Florida and creating red carpet hairstyles in Hollywood, I have seen glamorous hair from coast to coast. When it comes to hair color– and in particular, blondes– there is definitely a lot of smarts that goes into creating the most ravishing hair color of them all – – – the “California-Bombshell-Blonde!”
I am spending so much time in the South these days (Savannah/Hilton Head) that I have been yearning for a Southern California beach fix. I was unexpectedly taken there (albeit in spirit) when my sister, Sherry, requested “California-Bombshell-Blonde” highlights for her 50th birthday. I was more than happy to oblige.
(This is Dennis Stokely’s sister! Isn’t she so gorgeous?)
MY SECRET FORMULA:::
There are so many different shades of blonde and each region of the country that I have spent time in has specific trends that are most popular.
–In New York, I find that most blondes are warmer tones.
–In the South, I find that most clients want cool tones (my least favorite). Southern gals are always complaining that their blonde is too yellow,
too red or too gold. For the most part, I find Southern blondes way too ashy. They seem so concerned that they get rid of the warm tones that they look almost greenish to me. I can almost always spot a “Southern-Belle-Blonde” by the coolness of her blonde highlights.
–It was when I landed in Los Angeles that I discovered my favorite way of highlighting blondes. It is an involved process that creates a natural, honey-colored base with sun-kissed, surfer-chic highlights (my favorite).
The short story to achieving the look is three-fold:
1-creating the correct base color,
2-highlighting (I prefer a mo-hawk placement of foils and hairline placement of foils, I leave the mid, underneath sections of hair un-highlighted, so the base color adds dimension to the overall end-look), and 3-completing with a ‘five-minute-smudge’ or soap cap (with a level 10 color) to blend and soften the base and highlights. I like base colors to be level 7 or 8 and highlights to be from level 9 to 10 or almost white.
By creating a beautiful base, adding highlights, smudging the two and adding a gloss in the end, if needed, you can sport the hottest summer hair color anywhere in the country – – – “California-Bombshell-Blonde!”

Wow, it is really a trend. I think Taylor Swift looks really good in this new lighter shade of pale..They all do. I like the take on the regional blondness too…pretty funny.
