I love holidays and particularly holiday weekends because it allows you to slow down and spend the time with friends and/or family hanging out. While going away is definitely fun and puts some adrenaline in your veins, the stay-at-home option allows you to visit restaurants and lounges you haven’t been to yet but have been talking about for a while. Don’t forget movies and binge-watching your favorite shows. The best part is inviting a group of people for late lunch or dinner!
What I personally like is to invite friends over to share a meal and have some great sips. I love the cocktails featured below because they include solid brands that have great wines and spirit flavors that will make your party something special- even if it’s a party of two!
Disclosure: I was recently sent some of the wines featured in this piece. It allowed me to better inform you of the flavor profile of each product. The gift of some wine to try doesn’t affect my decision to feature these cocktails- I would have featured them regardless of getting the wine.
RAZ MULE
What’s not to love about Svedka Vodka? It’s even better with a blue raspberry flavor simply because it’s so unique. Perfect for holiday cocktails!
Ingredients
1 ½ parts SVEDKA Blue Raspberry
3 parts ginger beer
Instructions
Build ingredients in a highball glass.
Garnish with lime discs and blackberries.
AFTERNOON SHADOW featuring Ruffino Lumina Pinot Grigio.
I love trying new Pinot Grigios. This Lumina Pinot Grigio varietal is on my short list of wines I like to try when I go out.
This one is lovely to sip and it pairs well with food!
Ingredients
3 oz Ruffino Lumina Pinot Grigio
3 oz Rooibos tea
.5 oz lemon juice
Instructions
Infuse the Ruffino Lumina Pinot Grigio with cinnamon overnight in the fridge.
Brew the Roobios tea and allow to chill.
Add sugar to slightly sweeten the tea.
Combine all ingredients into a glass.
Add ice and stir.
Add a lemon peel for garnish.
BLUE BASIL with Ruffino Prosecco.
This Ruffino Prosecco is a sparkling wine with lots of personality. It won’t overwhelm, it simply enhances the moment!
Ingredients
4 oz Ruffino Prosecco
1 oz Basil/Blueberry simple syrup
.5 oz lime juice
Method
Blend simple syrup with basil and blueberries in a blender.
Fine strain and keep in fridge.
Build in a lowball glass over ice.
Stir and garnish with a skewer of blueberries and basil.
KIWI MARTINI with Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc
I have been drinking sauvignon blanc for over 10 years. I love finding a brand that doesn’t overdo the grassy/green flavor. Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc is exceptionally smooth with a nice blend of green flavor (but not too much) that has a great balanced taste.
Ingredients
½ of a kiwi fruit, skinned
½ oz fresh lemon juice
½ oz simple syrup
¾ oz vodka
1 ½ oz Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc
½ oz pomegranate juice
Method
In the bottom of a mixing glass, muddle the kiwi in the lemon juice and simple syrup.
Add remaining ingredients and shake well with ice.
Strain into a chilled martini glass (or over ice into a rocks glass).
Garnish with a kiwi slice on the rim of glass.
I have developed quite a fondness in the last couple of years for prosecco and this one did not disappoint. I loved sauvignon blanc for years and pinot grigios are always on my short list of wines to try.
Thank you to all the featured brands for these recipes. Don’t be surprised if I feature more cocktails from them.
