“Snow White & The Huntsman” & MORE! Movie & DVD Reviews! Safe House, Acts of Valor, John Carter 3D!

Author I am a movie junkie. If I am not in a theater (and for years I was NOT unless it was something I really wanted to see), I am watching things on DVD. It makes no difference if it’s a movie ( I just hit Matrix Trilogy again. Thanks for the recommendation Morgana Rae!). So while I have spent the last few months looking at trailers for the FEW movies I have seen and thought worthwhile (The Avengers), I ticked off the movies I did want to see for real (Bourne Legacy is my kind of flick. Jeremy Renner = Matt Damon only single! Nice twist to the plot too). I included Snow White and the Hunstman because I knew that Chris Hemsworth had proved himself viable with Thor (a joke of a movie) and managed to pull off The Avengers with aplomb against a stellar cast. Charlize doing her fashion thing and KStew + special FX, what could go wrong?

Last October, perfumer Andy Tauer and filmmaker Brian Pera started a collaboration combining the worlds of perfume and film with a fragrance called Miriam. Inspired by the character of the same name in the Evelyn Avenue film series called Woman’s Picture, Miriam looked back to the past from the present, paying homage to the rich, robust fragrances of yesteryear and the bittersweet play on memories those fragrances often evoke now.

If you know any of these names, the most notable is Maria Shriver. We know her as the former First Lady of California and the person who lead the Governor’s Conference for Women in Long Beach, Calif. Despite having covered that conference for 4 years, been at events where Shriver was present and even been on a phone interview with her, I have never met her and I am sure she has never heard my name.

It’s now a new year and I know that I gained a bit of weight over the holidays. As soon as I saw the scale go up, I knew I had to change what I was eating. And in the back of my mind I was thinking Paleta!! I had a chance to see Chef Kelly Boyer and her team in early December (when we had that lovely windstorm hit LA) and we talked about the changes on the menu for winter: YUMMY!! We also talked about the cleanse which she suggested might be an option since I was complaining about my difficulties with chocolate and sugar at that time (it’s no better now!)
