It’s time for Celebrity Style Slam!– UK Stylist Michaela Jedinak’s commentary on the celebrity fashion winners and losers. Michaela comments regularly on a variety of current celebrities at events or about town and how their style chalks up in her typical “call them as she sees them” manner.
If you are a regular reader, Michaela covered celebrity styles for LA-Story.com for the Academy Awards, Independent Spirit Awards, Grammys, SAG Awards red carpet reviews and the Gucci/Madonna Party at NYFW!) and the premiere of Sex and the City!

This might sound belated– but given that I only recently saw Sex and the City and loved most of the fashions. What I felt was interesting was looking back at the way the different stars dressed at the premiere– because one has to wonder why Pat Field didn’t get into the fray of helping these ladies create outfits for *every* premiere because what they wore for each premiere wasn’t consistent in style or fashion.
Celebrities Featured: Kim Cantrell and Cynthia Nixon
Cynthia Nixon:
Colour:
I feel like repeating myself over and over again- when you are not young, a bride or on the beach or similar you should never ever wear white from top to toe. It is very ageing and inappropriate for the occasion, the place and venue.
Bodyshape:
The shape of the dress works for her figure.
Style: but the shoes spoil not only the look but also interfere with the shape of the dress. They just look like house slippers she popped on …they do nothing for the dress and for her image. Not only she should have gone for a contrasting colour in her shoes but also for plateau or wedge heel in order to have keep the line and style of the dress. The little golden clutch bag looks totally lost on this outfit and doesn’t harmonise either with her garment, her or look. It looks like something that shouldn’t be there in the first place.
Overall Rating: 2** Two Stars
Kim Cattrell
Colour: The colour looks great on her and makes the dress and her look very chic.
Bodyshape:
What’s up with her décolleté and the strange fabric straps going down her dress? It looks like everything is heading south. This is never flattering. Especially when you hit 50, you want try to avoid showing what nature does to you. The décolleté is far from fitting her bust, the straps along the décolleté line are making the dress look totally shapeless on her.
Style:
The whole dress is so badly fitted on her. It adds unnecessary bulk around her waist and thighs– places that no one wants to see additional bulk. The shoes are actually not bad, but they look tiny in comparison to the bulky dress on her body. The result– Cattrell looks like being squashed in a too small sized outfit.
Overall Rating: 2**( only because she got the colour right) Two Stars
