An Easy Way to Avoid New Year’s Eve + New Year’s Football: SHOP!!

I was trying to figure out how to do a layout on the stores that will be open New Year’s Eve and how many stores would be open on New Years Day. Considering it’s a  HUGE day for football,  it’s not surprising that shopping is a great alternative to being inundated with football! Thankfully, Jessica from Offers.com shared the information you will find in today’s post. I did contribute a few lines and comments here and there, but I plainly marked my comments!

What stores are open on New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31, 2020)
How About New Year’s Day (Jan. 1, 2021)?

Offers.com has put together a chart showing the New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day hours for major merchants, including Walmart, Target, Kohl’s, Macy’s, and Whole Foods.
Their hours may vary from the norm, with some stores closing early and opening late to give their employees time with their loved ones.  You need to call the stores in advance OR check their website to see what time the store is opening and closing.
**Stevie Tip
Be prepared for lines at the register and even for parking.
In light of the surge in Covid-19, please follow the Covid-19 guidelines!
Make sure you have your mask and are wearing it.
Also remember to use social distancing!
For New Year’s Day 2021, some businesses may be closed (or open for pickup only) in areas under COVID-19 restrictions.
OFFERS.COM Disclaimer:
We verified the hours in our chart via retailer websites and by calling several locations of each retailer. However, some locations’ hours may vary from what’s listed in the chart below. Call ahead before going shopping.

Are banks open on New Year’s Day and New Year’s Eve?

Jan. 1 is a federal holiday, so banks will be closed. Many will be open on New Year’s Eve, but branches will likely close early or have reduced hours.
** Stevie Tip:
In California there are many banks with ATMS as well as supermarkets. Be prepared though that you might have to hit various machines because you won’t be the only person tapping the ATM. Some ATMs will run out of money before 6 PM.

Which restaurants are open on New Year’s Day?

Plenty of major chains and local joints will be open on New Year’s Day and New Year’s Eve.
–Hours may vary, however, and some restaurants may require reservations for New Year’s Eve dining.
–If you are in an area under COVID-19 restrictions, restaurants may be open for takeout only.
**Stevie Tip
If you are in California, be prepared to do take-out for food.
There are very few places where even outdoor dining is available (San Diego is an exception).

Are grocery stores open on New Year’s Day?

Many grocery stores are open for normal business. However, it’s common for grocery stores that are open on New Year’s Day to open their doors later than usual. Grocery stores also commonly close early on New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31).

**Stevie Tip

CALL the store you want to go to before you leave the house to find out if they are open.
Be prepared to wait in line

Is the post office open on New Year’s Day?

Jan. 1 is a federal holiday, so USPS post offices will be closed on New Year’s Day.
–FedEx locations will also be closed on New Year’s Day and offering modified service and hours on New Year’s Eve.
–UPS locations will be closed on Jan. 1, and there will be no pickup or delivery service. UPS will offer modified service and hours on Dec. 31.
Here’s an EARLY Happy New Year to you! I am happy that 2021 is just a couple days away.
Thanks to Offers.com for the information and the  great details!
