“We are always inspired by French women—how they look like they just woke up, put on a lip stain, and tousled their hair,” says Marilee Albin. “Tonight, we were channeling Lou Doillon, Jane Birkin’s daughter, as we created effortless-looking texture to complement Kathryn’s black Lanvin ensemble, Tamara Mellon stilettos, and Briony Raymond diamond and emerald necklace.”

• “We started with clean, damp hair, and I applied Better Not Younger Lift Me Up Hair Thickener at the roots and No Remorse Heat Protection Spray,
section by section,” says Albin.
• “I blow-dried her hair, and using a tiny Ibiza round brush, twisted her hair into coils, changing direction with each new section.”
• “We let the twists sit for about thirty minutes. Then I sprayed a bit of hairspray and beach spray on my hands and shook out the twists, using my fingers to create that French-girl, undone texture.”
• “For the evening, Kathryn is wearing her hair down, tucked behind one ear.”
