Café Gratitude Pop-Dinner Party with Chef Anne Thornton, Executive Chef- Dreux Ellis and Sommelier, Taylor Grant!

 

 

 

Café Gratitude’s Executive Chef, Dreux Ellis has come together with Chef Anne Thornton to collaborate on an autumnal four-course dinner
on October 13
at 7 pm. Guests can enjoy an evening of fresh, plant-based ingredients beautifully crafted into fall-inspired dishes by the duo with the
option to pair the menu alongside natural wines personally selected by Sommelier, Taylor Grant.  
The dinner party will start with
–Cremini ‘Escargot’ with fines herbes socca amuse-bouche
–followed by Roasted Beet & Maitake Mushroom with smoked horseradish cream, radicchio, and frisee,
–Autumnal Risotto made with roasted butternut squash, brown rice, baby kale, leeks, pine nuts, and sage cashew cream,
–and last but not least, a decadent Chocolate Ganache Tart with salted caramel and candied hazelnuts for dessert.
Natural wine pairings for the dinner were carefully selected by Sommelier, Taylor Grant.

The Café Gratitude Arts District Pop-Up Dinner Party with Chef Anne Thornton starts at 7 pm.

Tickets are available to purchase through Eventbrite for $50 per person with the option to add
wine pairings for an additional $15.

Biographies

 Chef Anne Thornton: Bio

Chef Anne Thornton is a classically trained chef known for creating delicious, nutrient-dense, plant-based food to help people easily heal themselves.
She forages for her ingredients from the best local, organic farm, and purveyors in Southern California, to provide the freshest, most nourishing, and
flavorful produce available. Anne is extremely knowledgeable about nutrition, sustainability, and the impact our food choices and habits have on our
health, as well as on the health of the planet. She works with top nutritionists and doctors to create food to help her customers eat their way to their
happiest, healthiest, most aligned lives.
You may have had chef Anne’s plant-based creations at Little Pine in LA; while Anne was Executive Chef it was named Vegetarian Restaurant of
The Year. Or maybe you’ve eaten some of her delicious baked goods at The Waverly Inn in NYC, or you’ve seen chef Anne cooking up a storm on
TV, either as a guest on one of the national talk shows or on her own Food Network show Dessert First with Anne Thornton. She has been on the
culinary scene, on both coasts, for 17 years. She now lives full-time in LA with her partner and their rescue dogs Olive & Fezzik.
In November 2020, at the height of the pandemic, Chef Anne stepped down as the Executive Chef of NeueHouse and founded Áine Organics.
She vowed moving forward only to create healing, whole ingredient, plant-based food.“Once I fully comprehended the detrimental impact the conventional food system has on our health and the health of the environment, I

Chef Seizan Dreux Ellis served as founding chef at Le Spighe, the first vegetarian restaurant in Venice, Italy, and he spent eight years in Venice
working a traditional apprenticeship at hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants. In April 2012, Chef Dreuxcame to Venice, California as Executive
Chef of Café Gratitude in Southern California bringing his health-based, flavor-driven cuisine to a wider audience. He now oversees the culinary
direction and development at all the restaurants in the region, including Arts District, Larchmont Village, Venice, and San Diego.
Taylor Grant is the founder of Salutary, a wine consulting company that offers a range of services including private tastings, restaurant
consultation, fine wine acquisition, wine & food experiences, as well as an online, subscription-based club. She also spearheads operations
for TRESOMM, a winery in Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California, Mexico founded in 2017.
A Los Angeles native, Taylor received her BA in Communication at UC Santa Barbara and spent 2 years at Paradigm Talent Agency before
shifting her career to wine. She started work at a small winery in 2010 as well as a wine shop before she embarked upon a fateful family
trip to France. That’s where her “aha moment” came, while she overlooked the Cote-Rotie.
Upon her return home she worked at many of LA’s top restaurants – From Sommelier at Michelin- starred Osteria Mozza, to Wine
Director for Scopa Italian Roots, Old Lightning, and Dama under famed chef Antonia Lofaso, to Dudley Market in Venice, CA.
When she’s not sourcing new wine, you can find her on the tennis court, free-diving or discovering new restaurants down in Baja
California, her home away from home. And she always makes time to jam on the guitar with sommelier friends in their
newly-formed band, The Champagne Supernovas.
Taylor holds an Advanced Level Certification with the Court of Master Sommeliers and was named one of
Food & Wine Magazine’s Sommeliers of the Year for 2019.
