New Year, New You: Getting Fit & Fabulous at Jackie Warner's SkySport!

if 2009 includes a resolution or a personal goal of getting fit, maintaining fitness or taking it to the next level, then this is the right post for you. Even if you didn’t gain weight over the holidays, I bet you didn’t work out every day either. (I didn’t and I am paying for it now).
What’s critical about fitness is that it’s easier to bounce back once you are on a routine and stick with it for a serious amount of time, because your body has what’s called muscle memory and it starts to remember how to do things; how to function with weights or aerobics. If you haven’t been working out, that’s ok too because now is truly the perfect time to start. The question is for both sides of the coin is just how to get started– because for those who are “newbies”, it’s often daunting. For those who already are pretty fit, you might find yourself putting it off.
LA-Story.com enlisted the perfect fitness pro to help you! Jackie Warner is owner of the SKYSPORT gym which is home to the Bravo Show “Workout”, was recently available to give us some time for a Q&A on how to get the fitness routine started or back in gear.

LA-Story.com: How is Sky Sport is different than other gyms and how SkySport got started?

Jackie Warner:
I started SkySport as a physical therapy center helping patients rehabilitate injuries and lose weight properly. We are very unique in that we are able to bill medical insurance for exercise with our trainers. So instead of paying inflated fees for personal training, clients can pay a small co-pay.

LA-Story.com How did you get into sports and fitness?

Jackie Warner: I was always an athlete. I played soccer, was an equestrian and just ran around like crazy. Then in my twenties, I discovered body building and nutrition. I got hooked by the way I could change my body, making it stronger and healthier. My confidence and self-esteem went through the roof. I attribute most of my success to my energy change through bodywork.

LA-Story.com: Do you have any tips, ideas, and suggestions for getting started on a fitness program?
Jackie Warner: Get a workout journal and Muscle and Fitness magazine subscription. They map out exactly what, how, and how many times you should train with easy to read descriptions or pics. Of course you can always go to www.jackiewarner.com and grab my video-it’s the best!

Jackie Warner :Workout: One-On-One Training with Jackie
LA-Story.com How does one pick the right program for themselves?

Jackie Warner: Find something athletic that you like to do. If you like boxing than take boxing classes, but always use weight resistance training as your staple. It is the most effective form of training for weight loss and body shaping.

LA-Story.com What if one isn’t really a runner but needs to do cardio?
Jackie Warner: Take a cardiovascular class that takes your mind off of a monotonous run, like bootcamp. You lose yourself in the music and the other classmates give you a competitive edge.

LA-Story.com What if a person has health issues?
Jackie Warner: If you have health issues-then you REALLY need to start some form of exercise. Even if it’s a 20 minute interval cardio routine on a treadmill. Walk for 2 minutes at the highest incline, run for 2 minutes at a flat incline and cool down. Repeat that 5 minute cycle 3 more times totaling 20 minutes. You will start dropping weight just with that routine 3-4 days week.

LA-Story.com Do you have any recommendations for how someone should ramp up their fitness intensity?

Jackie Warner: After a few months the body stops responding to a regular routine. This is the time to change your lifting style-go heavier with less reps, change the actual exercises or include a cardio intensive all over body class like kick-boxing or power yoga.

LA-Story.com Any tips or advice you can give about healthy eating habits?

Jackie Warner: Don’t change your eating habits at all…just add 3 times the vegetables, drink 3 liters of water per day and 2 boiled eggs a day. Fat gain comes primarily from liver dysfunction so the water flushes and speeds up metabolism, the vegetables have vitamins and minerals/fiber that speed up metabolism and the eggs have lecithin which is a fat burner.

LA-Story.com How does someone make a change to a fitness program already in progress but that is getting stale?

Jackie Warner: Go to the internet and download three more exercises per muscle group. For example, If you have been doing leg presses and lunges for your lower body, type in “leg workout” and add more to your routine.

LA-Story.com would like to thank Jackie Warner for her time in providing tips and ideas about constructing a fitness routine.
Definitely check out SkySport for the BEST in training.
