It’s getting close to Valentine’s Day and quite frankly despite the snow storms and rain storms pelting both coasts, we are getting closer to spring. Even if that sounds a bit silly, you can bring a little spring into your life — whether it’s for Valentine’s Day gifting, for yourself or just to change up your style with fragrance.
Fragrance is a huge mood changer and it also affects how others perceive you: sweet, sexy, adventurous, dark, whatever you want, fragrance can do it. Who better to talk to about fragrance and what to buy for Valentine’s Day or anytime than the creator of the niche fragrance line Smell Bent, Brent Leonesio .
Not heard of Smell Bent? Honey where have you been?
Brent Leonesio is the creator and founder of smell bent, a playfully modern perfume and accessories company. After years of near-obsession collecting, Brent began mixing and selling his own perfume to his friends. Winding up with a winner of a project, Brent brought smell bent to the world. He launched in fall 2009 with a debut collection of 10 scents and a custom perfume service.
smell bent combines Brent’s passion for perfume with his background in art and design. Formerly a fashion and accessories designer, Brent took his whimsical aesthete and twisted and tweaked it to fit into the world of fragrance– and with amazing reception.
Ok.. let’s get into the good stuff. We managed to snag some phone time iwth Smell Bent’s mad fragrance genius to talk about the .Actually once we started talking, we couldn’t stop. The Smell Bent fragrances are far too addictive and way too cute and full of double entrendres to not at least get some samples. Me– I have not only limited editiion (and no longer available) holiday collection but most of the original collection.
Smell Bent NEW Collection
St Tropez Dispenser: jasmine absolute, fresh coconut, aloe vera, and a light breeze over a vintage musk– think of the coconut mixed with jasmine and musk and sex on a beach.. (ok that last part is strictly Stevie editorializing)
Thai’d Down: sparkling kumquat, fresh mushroom, soothing buddha bark, crushed pink pepper, clove and rum– fresh, exotic, and everything you think it would be — and more!
Monaco-Dependent: budding orange blossom, bright greens, sweet orange oil, luscious opoponax. Light and sophisticated, fun but never boring!
Brussels Sprouted: sprouted greens, Himalayan cedar, deep green musk, and fresh wet earth. According to Brent, inspired by the ancient Charcoal forest– I don’t care what it’s inspired by but it’s really an interesting scent and would layer well and be clean enough for guys who want super-clean scents.
Bollywood or Bust: intoxicating blend of red rose absolute, robust sandalwood and rich, savory spices. This is for those who are daring — gents and gals.
Sounds like fun to me!!

Smell Bent the blog
From the Smell Bent Blog:
i know valentine’s day can be a bit of a touchy subject – so we here at smell bent thought we’d try and lighten the mood a bit with a treat. from now until february 14th, every order will be delivered for free, including international shipments!
if you haven’t already tried our Leisure Cruise scents, now’s the perfect time. go ahead, treat yourself or a friend to a lovely new smellie,
That cool thing said, here’s a great suggestion. Buy a sample set + a gift certificate to gift someone special. This enables them to try a group of scents and then get a bottle of their favorite one. It’s “snap” easy to give and with the samples they don’t like, the recipient can give them to friends to test drive as a “pay it forward” situation.
Don’t forget the original fragrances either. Those are “totally off the charts”
smell bent is sold around the world, with numerous customers in Asia, Europe and Australia. Brent continues to create bold new fragrances from his studio in West Hollywood, CA.
