One of the most common challenges of the holiday (read ‘gift-giving’) season is finding something for those people on your list that are difficult to buy for… Frequently, this is someone who can buy anything they want already. )(Heard Carson Daly talk about this today on his radio show!)
This category can also include grandparents and parents who delight in declaring, “I have everything I need”. Others who fall into this category relish their “mysterious” persona and seldom share personal interests, likes and dislikes (could be a colleague, employer or supervisor) Then there’s the hostess/host gift. Yes, you can bring wine. Yes, you can bring dessert. Yes, you can bring wine & dessert. Nothing wrong with that at all, but are these gifts for the host/hostess…or the guests?
Here’s a fail-proof solution that pleases everyone… Artisan foods are the answer!
Even if someone can buy ‘em for themselves, they may not know about the artisan! (E.g., most of the artisanal sweets and treats people are not well-known across the country). If someone claims to have everything they need, it doesn’t mean they won’t enjoy a special, small-batch creation. Mystery people aren’t mysterious about one thing–they eat food too! (And they love great food too)
Seriously, what self-respecting hostess/host is going to put fine jams out on a holiday table when they will wisely be whisked away to the pantry? (I would hide them in my dogfood drawer). The jams are exquisote!
Robert Lambert is an award-winning food artisan (featured in LA Story before it was hip!). He is based in San Rafael, California. While his products are available in fine food/gourmet stores nationally (listed on his site), they are also sold via his own website. He has specially priced sets where YOU can choose two of his acclaimed fruitcake varities–including his new Four Orange Chocolate Fruitcake.
All of these beautifully adorned cakes are individually made via an arduous process with the finest ingredients:
Fruitcake
His artisan syrups are miraculous in cocktails/mocktails, in cooking and over ice cream. The same can be said for his award-winning Dark Cherries in Merlot Syrup and his Hot Ginger Caramel Sauce. His chocolate sauces are heralded and decadent!
As for his unique marmalade creations and jams, the InterContinental San Francisco and InterContinental Mark Hopkins San Francisco asked Mr. Lambert to create originals exclusively for them. Though still served there, they thankfully available to all of us now.
One of them, his Pear Ginger Jam (finished with an inspiring array of ingredients and cognac) is a craving-inducing event! Others like his Wild Blueberry Lemon Jam and Raspberry Champagne Jelly are always being made because he can barely keep up with demand: Robert Lambert Jams
Lambert is offering a 4-Jar holiday tin with his selections, or you can choose your own.If you can pick out four flavors in less than 20 minutes, more power to you– I certainly dither over the mix of each flavor. I probably should buy 2 x 4 pack tins. (sick aren’t I?)
This is among an array of seasonal gift highlights:

Other items you should not miss are the syrups— because they are absolutely killer. Whether you mix them into salad dressing, or use as a glaze on veggies or chicken, pour them on waffles, top an ice cream sundae with them or make an amazing cocktail out of them, there’s nothing bad that can happen- unless you drop the bottle.
NB:He offers discounted USPS & FedEx shipping and his packages arrive beautifully presented.
You see? Fail-proof, fool-proof and a winning gift no matter what you give. (Don’t forget to order some for your own personal uses)

Thanks to Robert Lambert for his assist. I have been doing a lot of lurking on his site while I try to decide what to buy. The fruitcake calls to me but honestly the chocolate sauce, caramel topping, one of the marmalades and a syrup are totally on my radar for dessert, cocktails and impromptu kitchen raids!
Luckily I went back to look at how long I have been featuring Robert Lambert and it’s several times a year for the last 1.5 + years. This year in particular his brand is just getting better and better, with a range of tastes sure to make anyone addicted to his array of tasty hand-made confections!
