Starting Tuesday, December 26 through January 2, 2018, Whole Foods Market is offering 15% off any caviar. Just in time for your New Year’s Eve celebration, you can indulge in the decadent light briny taste while toasting in 2018!
My “source” within Whole Foods corporate office made a couple of recommendations on what to drink with the caviar of your choice.
There are two different champagnes to pair with the caviar that are both in the RM category, meaning the same person or family is growing the grape and producing the wine. These champagnes are representative of the village and vineyards they are grown. They are typically made in relatively small batches with a high focus on quality.
(The brands in this photo may or may not be available at Whole Foods Market- primarily because I can’t see the entire label of any bottle)
— The first recommendation is any champagne from the French winery, Bernard Remy. My source has recommended this brand to me many times and I trust this person’s judgement because this brand is a staple in her house.
–The second brand featured came HIGHLY recommended from the same person: the J. Lassalle Champagne Brut Premier Cru
This champagne pairs wonderfully with oysters, crab, scallops, aged comte, young goat cheese, and burrata. Think of this as the champagne you serve before dinner. Its fresh and expressive with white flowers, round, elegant with a long balanced finish.
Both sound pretty amazing to me. If you have a Whole Foods Market near you, check out their stock of champagne and see if either of these has a place in your budget. Since the champagnes aren’t on sale, you could buy a couple of bottles now and then do a circle back starting Tuesday for the next week to buy caviar!
