 Check out these two new cocktails specifically created for Summer 2018 by Gracias Madre restaurant. These great cocktails were created by Maxwell Reis, the Beverage Director at Gracia Madre!

Melon Collins and the Infinite Cactus 

Created by Maxwell Reis available at Gracias Madre ($14)

 

“I wanted to make a watermelon cocktail that provided a full 360° experience of the fruit embracing the juice, flesh, rind, the whole shebang. Using untraditional ingredients to complement El Silencio Mezcal paired with the familiar watermelon flavor.”

Ingredients:

1.5 oz El Silencio Espadin

1 oz Blackberry grenadine

1 oz Lime juice

.75 oz Chareua

1.5 oz Watermelon Juice

.75 oz Lustau Manzanilla Sherry

1½ oz soda water

Glassware:

Highball

Garnish:

Loteria Card pinned to rim

Method: 

Shake all ingredients (except soda water) and strain over ice into a Highball glass.

Top with soda water.

Garnish with Loteria Card pinned to rim.

Rocket Man

“I love making drinks out of untraditional ingredients, and Arugula has been high on my list for some time. When experimenting I like to use El Silencio, and for this cocktail I wanted to create a refreshing backdrop that the bitterness of the arugula would accentuate and balance. The end result is a beautiful harmony that creates a flavor of its own. It’s refreshing and non confronting, but it makes you think, which is a cocktail model I use often.” — Maxwell Reis

 

Ingredients:

1.5 oz El Silencio Espadin

.5 oz Aalborg aquavit

1 oz Lime

.75 oz simple syrup

.75 oz Salers Apertif

.5 oz Lustau Fino Sherry

Glassware:
Rocks

Garnish:
Arugula pinned to rim

Method: 
Shake all ingredients and strain over ice into a Rocks glass.
Garnish with arugula pinned to rim.
