Cinco de Mayo is on the immediate horizon, and Tastings.com (powered by the Beverage Testing Institute) dropped their 2019 tequila ratings just in time!
There’s a new entry on the list that has everyone blown away. Sam’s Club’s Member’s Mark Silver Tequila is a hot new brand and it’s getting a lot of attention – along with customers buying it!
Sam’s Club’s Member’s Mark Silver Tequila received a gold medal with a 91 point or “exceptional” rating. And the best news… a 1.75L bottle is only $19.98 making it a “best buy” in the tequila category too. Pretty impressive considering most of the other tequilas ranked as “exceptional” are at least twice the price!
Here’s what the Beverage Testing Institute had to say about this liquid gold:
“Clear color. Elegant aromas and flavors of fresh ripe agave, sweet cantaloupe, hibiscus, rooibos tea, bay leaf, and mulling spices with a supple, vibrant, dry-yet-fruity light body and a tingling, subtle, long finish with accents of mole, snap pea, roasted peppers, and huitlacoche finish. An authentic, agave-forward tequila with a great sense of place.”
Traditional Margarita: 5-gallon recipe that’s perfect for parties!

Ingredients:
4 liters of Sam’s Club’s Member’s Mark Silver Tequila
2 liters of triple sec (40 proof)
10 bottles (750 ml) of sweet and sour ready to use (not concentrate)
1 gallon of orange juice
1/2 gallon fresh lime juice
Method:
Mix all ingredients in a large container and stir.
Serve over the rocks with salt on the rim.
Garnish: with a lime.
Makes 129 servings.

Or, if your guests are looking for a less traditional Margarita, try this Pineapple Margarita!

Ingredients:
1-1/2 parts Sam’s Club’s Member’s Mark Silver Tequila
4 fresh pieces of pineapple (muddle) or 3 parts pineapple juice
2 fresh slices of Serrano chile (muddle)
1 part simple syrup (or 3/4 part agave nectar)
1 part fresh lime juice
Method:
Put 4 pieces of pineapple in a shaker can and muddle it into the bottom of the shaker.
(Fresh is preferable but you can use canned) or use pineapple juice.
Add the Serrano chile into the muddle and crush it up.
Add in the Tequila and stir well.
Add in the simple syrup (or agave nectar) and mix again.
Add ice to the shaker and shake for a count of thirty.
Open up the shaker and add lime juice and shake again,
Set up glasses with ice.
Strain the shaker into the glasses!
Cinco de Mayo Cucumberita

Ingredients:
1 ½ parts Sam’s Club’s Member’s Mark Silver Tequila
1 ½ parts sour mix
¾ parts triple sec
chopped jalapenos (chop until the jalapeno is in bits. Start with one jalapeno. Add more jalapeno to taste)
¼ c. cucumber
Splash sweetened lime juice
Splash fresh lemon juice
Method:
Blend ingredients with ice and pour into a salt-rimmed margarita glass.
Garnish: with a cucumber wheel.
“The Sam’s Club “Member’s Mark Tequila” would be great mixed with various juices – and keeping the recipe super simple. It would be great if sipped too.
Definitely, check in with Sam’s Club and see if it’s in stock. It sells out fast. While you might buy one bottle, try buying two, so that you won’t be disappointed that you and your friends drank it so fast!
